2. How does your
media product represent particular social groups?
My artist, The Reynold Project, is
fairly similar to Enter Shikari as a whole. Both bands have comparable fashion
traits through the clothes that they wear such as jeans/skinny jeans and shirts.
They both enjoy music of the same genre, post hardcore, rock, while also having
the same attitudes when performing their music, both being energetic and fun,
creating memorable performances. Being bands as a whole they both have matching
interests, them being going to gigs and parties or having a drink down at their
local pub, both showing the same energetic attitudes on and off stage making
both bands exciting to be around. Both bands are quite open to their audience,
producing wild and stupid videos of the group’s activities and
stupid stuff they happen to do, showing the similarities between them. This
relates to both bands, them loud and extremely outrageous, but as Enter Shikari
has more experience and have been around for longer they are seen as a stronger
rock band whereas The Reynold Project are a little into their rock career.
Amber you have dealt with how you have represented your band but what about the social groups within your audience? Think about the social group you are representing e.g. males/females aged 15-24 then break it down further e.g. hardcore rockers - are you representing them positively? How? Stereotypically? How? Maybe through mise en scene, colour, language etc you are representing them in a certain way.
